Living with constant pain is tough on anyone. If you’re one of those people, you’re all too familiar with its frustrations, limitations and misery. Life is too short to put up with constant discomfort.
Everyone at the office of Nevada Rehabilitation Centers empathizes with our patients’ physical distress and challenges. Our supportive and understanding environment during their rehabilitation journey fosters their well-being and determination to achieve their goals.
A PT first locates the source of the pain and then carries out an effective treatment plan. He (or she) will search for spots of weakness and stiffness that could be exacerbating your sore area(s). Gentle stretches will warm up your muscles, tendons and ligaments. You’ll then perform targeted exercises to alleviate your aches and help you become more agile.
Physical therapy sessions usually entail a combination of movements. Your PT could have you carry out low-impact aerobic training that increases your heart rate yet does not stress your joints. He’ll have you follow that up with strengthening exercises that concentrate on your core muscles (stomach, glutes and back) and other parts of your body. You’ll use machines, resistance bands or your body weight. Pain relief exercises hone in on the areas that cause you pain. You’ll become stronger and more flexible.
Your therapy sessions might include ice packs to calm inflammation and heat treatment to warm up your muscles for better performance. Ice and heat help fight pain. He may also include deep-tissue massage during your sessions. But they won’t be spa-like massages; they will therapeutic and concentrate on the areas from which your pain emanates. But don’t worry! Your PT will ensure that the massages are safe and effective.
Another possible method employs transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). A device sends a low-voltage electric current to the skin that covers your painful area(s). During ultrasound care, sound waves are sent to your areas that hurt. TENS and ultrasound treatments block the pain messages that go to your brain.
Physical therapy shouldn’t hurt, and it will be safe. It will make you stronger, help you move, feel better, and alleviate or eliminate your pain. The office of Nevada Rehabilitation Centers is committed to continuous learning and improvement among our staff and clients. We stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field of physical therapy. Please call us today for an appointment.
