The certified physical therapists at Nevada Rehabilitation Centers have many treatment options in our modern, comfortable facility. Massage therapy, stretching, and strength training are among the more widely known techniques we use to help our patients recover from a range of conditions and injuries.
One of the more advanced technologies at our disposal is ultrasound, which is often thought of as a diagnostic imaging tool used during pregnancy. Ultrasound also has profound benefits when it comes to treating swollen muscles, ligaments and joints. The ultrasound machine sends an electric current into a wand to produce warmth and vibrations that travel through the skin to the painful or swollen area underneath, effectively speeding the healing process.
Ultrasound is a safe, pain-free, noninvasive treatment applied by our fully trained and licensed technicians. The procedure is generally brief, usually taking only about ten minutes, and we apply a clear, hypoallergenic gel to prevent air from coming between the wand and the patient’s skin, and also to help send the ultrasound waves to the affected area.
Ultrasound is often used to prepare muscles, joints, and ligaments for a prescribed stretching or exercise routine that has been designed specifically for each patient’s needs. We work with each patient and their doctor to customize a plan that is safe, effective, and will lead to increased health and well-being long after our treatment is over.
The physical therapists at Nevada Rehabilitation Centers understand there is no one-size-fits-all method of healing. That’s why we take a holistic approach utilizing cutting-edge technologies like ultrasound, and more traditional disciplines like massage therapy. We take into consideration each patient’s fitness level before treatment, and what their goals are during treatment and afterward. Our attentive, caring staff is ready to guide you on the path to a healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle. Please contact our office today to arrange a consultation.
