Most people who have never undergone physical therapy (PT) want to know what to expect when their need for it arises. Typical reasons for PT are to: eliminate or reduce pain; avoid invasive surgery; improve recovery from a stroke; enhance mobility issues; and recuperate from a physical injury or surgery. It’s is a positive life-changing experience.
The skilled physical therapists at Nevada Rehabilitation Centers will work with you to ameliorate your problem and help you regain strength and mobility. Our physical therapists are experts in their field. These top-notch professionals have the patience and enthusiasm that it can take to keep their clients upbeat and motivated. Their goal is to help you return to the activities you enjoy, and become as active and independent as possible.
Here are some things to expect:
Your physical therapist will start by asking you specific questions about your health and the symptoms regarding the condition for which you want PT. Your answers will help him (or her) ascertain whether or not you would benefit from PT, and, if you would, which treatments would be most effective.
Depending on the specifics of your symptoms and disorder(s), he will measure your posture, coordination, balance, strength, flexibility, blood pressure, and heart and respiration rates. He will also use his hands to feel the part of your body that’s causing distress, as well as evaluate the movement and function of your muscles, joints and tissues. He will also observe your gait, functional activities (how you rise from a lying position or sit in and arise from a chair) and body mechanics (the way you perform particular activities, such and lifting and bending.
The physical therapist and you will discuss your PT goals, and he will then design a treatment strategy. In many cases, the physical therapist will identify your condition and begin treatment immediately. Your physical therapist will calculate your advancement throughout your strategy of care.
PT will help you meet your goals of pain relief and better bodily function.
